Partner Juan Miró penned an in-depth essay about the role of architects in creating cities that are safe, healthy, and sustainable for Platform, the academic journal of the University of Texas School of Architecture:
“Cities are complex human creations that embody the values and aspirations of the societies that build them. Austin is no different; and, like many cities across the globe, it faces multiple problems—including the effects of global warming, traffic congestion, affordability, and inequality. COVID-19 has made evident another challenge: keeping citizens safe from the spread of pandemics. Regardless of the challenge, the urban design solutions to address them must always respond to the particulars of each city—from their specific nuances to the general understanding of the urban trajectory that has shaped them: their urban DNA.”
